Once in a lifetime experience, so special, priceless memory! I booked a private class with Michele as a 24th birthday present for my boyfriend, and my boyfriend said it was the best present he has EVER received. The class is in Michele’s gorgeous, history-rich Venetian flat. We did the shorter fresh pasta class where we cooked 2 different pasta dishes and a panacotta, but Michele showed us how to make as many pasta shapes as possible - I think it was around 10 different shapes we learnt! Michele has 34 years of experience cooking across the world and this is clear when you cook with him in everything he does, from the way he sprinkles the flour to all the nuggets of wisdom that he told us each step of the way. He had so much knowledge and we felt that the class went above and beyond our expectations. He is everything you imagine an Italian chef to be and so incredibly passionate about food, good ingredients and proper cooking. My boyfriend is more of a cook than myself (he is more Gordon Ramsey & I am a 5-minute Jamie Oliver bish-bosh-bash kind of cook) but I felt everything was very easy to grasp for me and we both learnt so much. This is an incredible experience, something you just don’t get the opportunity to do very often. Having PRIVATE access to a chef of this calibre is an absolute privilege. I really cannot recommend Michele’s classes enough. Even if we only had ONE day in Venice I would say this is an absolute must. My boyfriend and I will be buying a pasta rolling machine soon and sending Michele pictures to make him proud! Loved loved loved this class, incredible value for money and a priceless memory created! Thank you Michele.

AMAZING Family Activity My family of 6 (four kiddos aged 6-12) had the most amazing time doing this cooking class. Michele was an extraordinary host, extremely personable and was so so kind and made it especially fun and hands-on for the kids. He helped them make EVERY kind of pasta they could think of, and our meal was INCREDIBLE. All 6 of us LOVED the experience and highly recommend to anyone visiting the city to choose this experience, especially with Michele. There are very few activities that keep so many different ages happy and engaged!! And to top it off, my picky kids all loved the food! 👌🏻👌🏻

THIS is the cooking class to take while in Venice! We loved our cooking class with Michele. Definitely a highlight of our trip to Italy. My husband was not initially enthusiastic but enjoyed it as much as I did. We met Michele near the Rialto bridge and then walked to the Rialto Market where we purchased a few items for our meal. Along the walk in the market and to his apartment, he was chock full of information about the history of Venice and made recommendations for places for us to visit during our remaining time. We chose the pasta class. There is also the option to prepare a typical Venetian meal and a sampler of Venetian food. We made three types of base doughs and learned how to make at least 15 different types of pasta shapes. In the end, we prepared 3 types of pasta with three sauces. Michele also made a dessert (as if we had room in our bellies for that!). Everything we made was delicious! He printed out instructions for making everything so we could try our hand at it on our own when we got home. By far, the food we prepared and ate with Michele was the best food we had during our 11 days in Italy ... and we learned so much about making pasta. Now ....if we could only replicate his recipes!!! We miss you, Michele!

If I lived in Venice, I'd book a class once a month. Eccellente!!!! We had an amazing culinary experience with Michele. He warmly welcomed us into his beautiful 300 year old Venice home before educating us on Italian cooking while we jointly prepared three different pasta dishes and some homemade gelato, with various antipasti nibbles, spoon-licking and prosecco along the way. This was more than just a pasta-making course, it was a food adventure and I come away from it with my standards raised higher! My fiancée (who picked this experience) and I had a great vacation in France and Italy. We ate very well on several occasions both in Paris, Turin and of course Venice, over the course of a ten-day trip. But we agree without doubt that this was the absolute highlight of our trip both taste-wise and culture-wise. I was slightly skeptical about doing a food experience in a touristy area like Venice, and it’s also my first non-accommodation Airbnb experience so I didn’t really know what to expect. But everything blew my expectations. Michele doesn’t know this but my fiancée and I were actually slightly hungover from the night before (it wasn’t a late night but we had spent most of the day sipping prosecco enthusiastically). For me (not so much my fiancée) the idea of doing a four-hour class the morning-after did not fill me with a huge amount of excitement. But that’s because I didn’t know Michele, his talent and his general warmth. As soon as he welcomed us into his lovely apartment, we knew it was going to be a real eye-opener. The beauty of this experience was that it was not fully hands-on, which was perfect for somebody in my slightly fragile condition at the time. Rather, Michele did a lot of the work but asked invited us to get involved as and when was necessary for the really interesting bits (for example, the pasta-making or the ‘potato-grinding’ for the delectable gnocchi that we prepared). So, what it actually turned into was a 4 hour lunch where we watched a masterclass Chef doing what he does best, preparing various pastas, cooking wonderfully fresh ingredients and having great conversation at the same time. I learned a lot about Italian food in general, and you can really tell that Michele does this for the passion of food and cooking, and not for the job itself. All in all, it was time and money well spent and I would do the same thing again in a heartbeat. Even if you are in Venice for a couple of days like we were, you should invest the time for this. It’s absolutely worth it… Thank you Michele for enlightening us, for the espresso, for the prosecco and for the tastebud explosion. And as per the title, there's so many Italian ingredients at different times throughout the year that you could go back again and again and experience something different every time. Which is exactly what I would do if I lived in Venice! Regardless, we'll be back! 🙂

our private venice cooking class I spent 10 days in Italy touring Florence, Cinque Terre, and Venice with my family of 5. We knew we wanted to do a cooking class at some point of our trip however the options were numerous and honestly almost overwhelming. I am so grateful I came across Michele's reviews on TripAdvisor while planning our trip as it was one of the highlights of our entire stay in Italy. Michele started our experience by meeting us in a plaza near his home. He then took us to a local market where we would be purchasing the fresh produce for our meal. Afterwards we arrived at his own personal home and settled in to his comfortable and impressive home kitchen. We signed up for the Typical Venetian meal and it did not disappoint. Michele prepared us a gourmet 5 star meal that was by far the best meal we had in our 10 days in Italy. He was professional but casual and fun. He was warm and kind but also very informative. We learned many tricks to the trade for the kitchen that we brought back home to us. He is an absolute dynamite chef! Michele is definitely doing what he was placed on this earth to do.

Fun Way to Learn About Venice As a couple celebrating a birthday, this was something special. And there is no better way to learn about a culture than through its food, cooked in a typical Venetian home. Michele Cabianco took us step by step through multiple preparations of cicchetti, Venetian style tapas or small bites, but not the simple street variety. Great personality, terrific sense of humor and wonderful patience, together with excellent wines, made for a fantastic experience. Michele explains the ingredients, such as why to use this kind of eggplant instead of that, or the best olive oil for making flavored oils. He demonstrates techniques including how to de-vein shrimp in one motion, the proper way to treat different varieties of mushroom, or using giant tweezers (called "pinza") for turning frying foods or lifting pasta. He explains why different cooking times change tomato sauce flavor, and what happens to meat during the freeze and thaw cycle. His take on dishes is novel, such shrimp with pumpkin cream (using Italian pumpkin which is not anything like the American version), or making meatballs with zucchini (keeps them really moist). Food is treated with respect and the flavors are allowed to speak for themselves in a harmonious way. Discussions ranged from his experiences as a chef to mortgage rates in Italy. Michele's English is excellent. We felt like friends right away. Put on aprons and participate in each step or sit back, watch and enjoy. We could not rate this experience more highly.
